About 3 km, a 10-minute ride
Salar Jung Museum deserves more time than most people give it: one man's collection so large that a full day barely covers a wing. It sits on the Musi river at the edge of the old city, about 3 km from our lane.
Stay with us and you can do the museum in the morning, Charminar and Laad Bazaar after lunch, and be back on a quiet street by evening. Our guests from Europe and Japan often do exactly this loop, their reviews are on this page.

Salar Jung is one man's collection, grown so large that a single wing can take a morning. Sitting on the Musi river at the edge of the old city, it is about 3 km from our lane, roughly ten to fifteen minutes by auto.
It is closed on Fridays. Plan around that, and give it more time than a guidebook suggests, because most people who rush it end up saying they wish they had not.
An auto or Uber takes ten to fifteen minutes with the live fare in the app. Coming back in the evening is straightforward; autos are available on the lane at most hours and the front desk will book a cab if it is late.
The museum sits close enough to Charminar that most guests do both in one trip, which is the sensible way to organise a day in the old city.
Charminar and Laad Bazaar are another five minutes on, Mecca Masjid is beside them, and Chowmahalla Palace is a short ride further. Koti and Sultan Bazar are walkable from the hotel if you would rather shop somewhere less crowded on the way back.
Doing the museum in the morning and the monuments after lunch works better than the other way round, mostly because of the light and the heat.
Rooms start at ₹2,500 a night, from the 182 sq.ft Dash King to the 676 sq.ft 2 Bedroom Suite for families.
Mitsubishi central AC, Venus 24-hour hot water, German soundproof windows and 1 Gbps WiFi throughout, on a residential lane that is genuinely quiet after a long day of walking. Breakfast is South Indian, from a very good restaurant nearby.

“The location is pretty convenient—close to Charminar, Makkah Masjid, Chowmahalla Palace, Salar Jung Museum, and even the quirky Sudha Car Museum… The reception is on the 2nd floor, and the staff were absolute gems—friendly, helpful, and polite. The rooms are compact but neat and functional.”
